Tetiana Bakhteieva, Committee Chairperson, drew attention of the attendants to the unsatisfactory provision of the regions with immunobiological medicine. Thus, in 2009, the actual amount of vaccine purchased at the budgetary expenses, totaled 60% of the need.
The Committee members called for the comprehensive revision of the prophylactic immunization schedule, taking into account the current epidemiologic situation. They deem necessary to settle this issue, involving leading national and international experts in the field of immunoprophylaxis.
The People´s Deputies listened to the report of H.Rozhkov, First Deputy Minister of Public Health, Chief Public Sanitary Inspector, who explained the lack of vaccine in the regions by the inadequate funding of the procurement in the years 2009-2010.
The data of the profile Ministry testify that the scope of immunization of target groups against diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus decreased to 81%; against measles, epidemic parotiditis and rubella to 80,6% (compared to 95% necessary).
The Committee members stressed that the action plan on the support of a polio-free status of Ukraine for 2008-2010 had been drafted and would be ratified by the Chief Public Sanitary Inspector of Ukraine.
